Proven experience to meet member needs

ABOUT ME
I am a Professor of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN. I have had both community practice (5 years) and academic (18 years) experience. I am currently Chair of the Division of Clinical Core Laboratory Services (core lab, esoteric testing, stat labs, physician office labs, point of care testing), and Dean of the Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences. As a member of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) Board of Governors, I currently serve as chair of the Council on Scientific Affairs and member of the executive committee. I also serve as a member of the Council on Accreditation and finance committee. I previously served as vice-chair of the Council on Education and board liason for CAP Foundation. It would be an honor to be elected to a second term and continue to serve CAP.

CAP EXPERIENCE

18 YEARS LABORATORY ACCREDITATION EXPERIENCE
Member, Council on Accreditation (current)
Chair, Continuous Compliance Committee
Vice-chair, Commission on Laboratory Accreditation
State Commissioner, Nevada and Minnesota
I served on the Continuous Compliance Committee for 10 years, with over 4 years as chair. In that role I set proficiency testing (PT) requirements for the Laboratory Accreditation Program (LAP), developed requirements for PT programs to participate in the LAP, and audited each CAP-accredited PT provider. I have been a member of the Council on Accreditation since 2018.
COUNCIL ON SCIENTIFIC AFFAIRS
Chair, Council on Scientific Affairs (current)
Point of Care Resource Committee
Clinical Chemistry Committee
It has been an honor to serve as chair of the Council on Scientific Affairs. CSA is the largest council within CAP with 28 committees.
